Start with the honest truth

No home check can prove what is inside a vape. Good copies can look almost identical, and even a scannable code can be cloned. What you can do is stack up evidence, and walk away when it does not add up.

1. Examine the packaging

Sharp print, clean die-cut edges and consistent color are what you want. Look closely at the crest and small text. Fuzzy lines, misspelled words, or a seal that looks glued back on are all reasons to stop.

2. Inspect the pen

The body should feel solid with no rattling, and the mouthpiece should sit flush. Look for leaks around the base and the mouthpiece. Do not use a pen that arrives sticky, cracked or swollen, particularly around the battery.

3. Look at the oil

Hold the window up to the light. Consistent color with no floating particles or layers is what you hope to see. Tilting the pen tells you something too, since oil that runs like water deserves suspicion. A faint air bubble is normal, but cloudiness is not.

4. Read the lab report

This is the check that carries the most weight. A credible certificate of analysis should show:

• The name and contact details of a third-party lab that you can look up yourself.
• A batch number that matches your product.
• A test date and results for potency.
• Screening for pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents and microbes.

Contact the lab directly if you can. A report that cannot be traced is worth very little.

5. Size up the seller

Real contact details, written refund and shipping policies, and tracked delivery are the minimum. Be wary of pressure to pay quickly, or prices far below everyone else. And if you buy from us, hold us to the same standard: ask us for your batch paperwork before you order.
